D1- Realistic Budget
D1- Budgeting
The cost of my game will be broken down into
sections, with each department gaining some of the budget. For example, the
Marketing will receive 44% of the budget, programming will receive 12% of the
budget, Art will receive 37%, Manufacturing will receive 2%, debugging will
earn 3% and any other department will receive the final 6% divided by how many
departments remain.
The budgeting of AAA games often lies between
$20 Million and $60 Million and there is very little breakdown information
available for AAA games that would allow me to make a more accurate decision
about my budget. Based on the idea that Destiny (2014) had a production budget
of $140M and Call of Duty: Elite (2011) had a production budget of $50M, I am
going to pitch to The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros a budget of $100M with
a contingency of $30 million. This means that Marketing will receive $44M,
Programming will receive $12M, Art will receive $37M, Manufacturing will receive
$2M, Debugging will receive $3M and any other department will receive $6M
divided by how many departments remain.
