LO5 B- Marketing and Distribution Plan
The announcement for my game will be made at 2017’s E3:
Electronic Entertainment Expo in the Los Angeles Convention Centre on June 14th
2017. This will be just under 2 years before the scheduled release date. I plan
on announcing it this early in order to stagger the promotion of the game
throughout the two years’ span, releasing new content when there are new Marvel
or DC Films throughout 2018 and 2019.
The first teaser trailer will be released alongside the
newest Marvel Cinematic Universe Film Ant-Man and The Wasp on July 6th
2018 and will feature the Marvel section of the game in order to excite this
section of fans. The second teaser trailer will be released alongside the
currently untitled DC Extended Universe film slated for release on July 27th
2018. Trailers will then be released regularly to coincide with Marvel and DC
movies including X-Men: Dark Phoenix (November 2nd 2018), Aquaman
(December 18th 2018), Captain Marvel (March 8th 2019),
Shazam (April 5th 2019). This will lead to the release date on May 1st
2019 before the release of Avengers 4 on May 3rd. Another trailer
will be released with this film for the first Downloadable Content Pack that
will be released at the same time. A trailer will be released on June 14th
for the second DLC Pack that will be released at the same time along with the
release of DC’s Justice League Part 2/ The Batman (whichever is decided will
come out on this date). This is called drip-feed marketing, where small amounts
of information are released at different stages throughout the production
process.
After the release of the fourth trailer (alongside Aquaman
on December 18th 2018) there will begin to be some Gameplay trailers
released on YouTube that will coincide with the release of the story trailers
that will appear in Cinemas and on TV. These gameplay trailers will show how
the game works and the types of things that players can expect when they purchase
the game.
From the stage of announcement, I will create a blog that
will update players on each stage of production in order to ensure that people
know what is happening with the game at each stage. The link to the blog will
be posted with small condensed updates on various social media pages including
the one I as the developer will open as well as the official Marvel, DC, Warner
Bros and Disney Social Media pages. Before the release of the game in May, I
intend for the game to feature in magazines such as PlayStation Magazine or
other such gaming magazines in order to ensure that the promotion of the game
reaches multiple audiences, including audiences that have a smaller social
media presence than others. With the release of the trailer that will accompany
Shazam, I will announce a Gold Edition of the game, which will come with some
of the original concept art for the game signed by the Concept Artist, and a
Deluxe Edition, which will include the Concept Art and codes to allow players
early access to the DLC packs of the game. Those who pre-order the game before
December 1st, they will be invited to take part in the Beta Test of
the game which will be available from December 1st until February
and they will be able play portions of the game very early.
